After 370 days, what are the consequences of a long space trip?

If the effects of the most well-known long space flights are well documented, we must also not forget that the total number of patients does not exceed a few dozen, over a period which now extends over 40 years. Of the 600 people (a little more) who have exceeded the 100 kilometer altitude mark, only a hundred have exceeded 300 days spent in orbit.

However, several problems are inevitable, starting with bone and muscle problems. No longer standing, the body reorganizes blood flow in other parts, and certain muscles atrophy (the entire motor system, legs, quadriceps, back support, glutes, etc.) while the bones are more fragile. This is spatial osteoporosis.

To combat these two conditions, astronauts exercise for around 2 hours a day with no skipping sessions, particularly in the months before their return. And it’s not just regarding sitting on the elliptical trainer! The more varied the sessions, the more muscle groups are stimulated, and the better (re)vascularization will be.
