After 4 years, Apple discreetly stops this offer

Apple recently made an unexpected decision by silently ending its Apple Music Voice offering.

This offer, introduced in October 2019 during the Unleashed keynote, allowed users to access the Apple Music catalog exclusively via Siri. With an attractive price of €4.99, it mainly targeted small budgets. And those who preferred to listen to Apple Music on specific devices such as AirPods, CarPlay, Apple Watch or HomePod.

However, this formula had many limitations. It did not support some key features such as displaying lyrics, Spatial Audio, and downloading music for offline listening. Despite these restrictions, she had found her audience.

4 years and then gone

On November 1, 2023, Apple quietly removed the Apple Music Voice option from its subscription site, a decision that took many users by surprise. The removal prompted Apple to create a support page to explain the situation to customers.

Current users will be able to continue enjoying their current subscription until it expires, but will then need to upgrade to another Apple Music plan.

The move sparked mixed reactions among users. Some regret the end of this economic offer. Others view the transition to other plans as an opportunity to access more advanced features. For those who prefer to use Siri for music, there are other alternatives. But more expensive.
