Attention to detail
As you certainly know, V is the protagonist of Cyberpunk 2077 : the player must shape it at the start of the adventure with countless configuration options, while going through its origins and social affiliations. An ultra-complete character creator, but unfortunately for some, the game cannot be played in third person. In this way, It’s impossible to truly see the face of your own hero or heroine unless you glance in a mirror.
There is, however, a small possibility of appreciating yourself “from the outside”: by driving vehicles. In the case of piloting a motorcycle, we can then opt for an external camera and by rotating it, it is then possible to see V from the front. And it is precisely in this precise configuration that‘a player realized… that the face was animated during conversations.
A feature added in update 2.0?
So, if you’re driving a car, switch to a third-person camera and turn it so you can see V’s face while he’s talking to someone, you might notice that the developers have thought of all the right facial expressions. It took 600 hours of play for Internet user KamuiRil to notice it, who was quick to share his find on Reddit (see video above), sparking thousands of reactions.
However, some suggest the possibility that this facial animation was added during update 2.0, recently released alongside the Phantom Liberty expansion. A theory also supported by many other members of the famous forum…
