After declaring a week of mourning following the death of student Prosper Cledor Senghor who died after the demonstrations, the Board of Directors of the Gaston Berger University (UGB) of Saint-Louis made an important decision.

After observing a week of mourning following the death of student Prosper Clédor SENGHOR, the Academic Council of Gaston Berger University (UGB) of Saint-Louis, meeting this Wednesday, February 28, 2024 in an extraordinary session under the chairmanship of the Rector, Professor Magatte NDIAYE, decides to resume educational activities from Thursday February 29, 2024.

Remember that the UGB was the scene of violent demonstrations after the announced postponement of the Presidential election. Two students lost their lives during these riots. They are Alpha Yoro Tounkara and Prosper Cledor Senghor.

It should also be remembered that in a press release published on Thursday February 22, 2024, the Coordination of Saint-Louis Students (CESL) took stock of the recent demonstrations noted within the said temple of knowledge. Still in the note, the CESL reported twenty-eight injuries, including eight by gunfire.
