The forces of the Mattsee and Seeham water rescue services have been required to rescue a capsized sailing ship from the lake in the past few days. They did it on Sunday.

After last week’s storm, the water rescue team managed to salvage a capsized sailing ship on Sunday. The storm on Wednesday night had torn the almost six meter long ship from its anchorage. “After several attempts, we have now managed to salvage the ship with the help of lifting balloons,” says Sebastian Strasser, local manager of the Mattsee water rescue service. Together with members of the Seeham local office and with the help of special equipment from the Mondsee water rescue service, the emergency services brought the sailing ship to shore. The almost new ship was badly damaged as a result of the storm.
