The famous American glam metal band Kiss announced that its members will now be represented by digital avatars, in a move previously adopted with the band Abba.
Pop House Entertainment, a Swedish company specializing in brands and the world of entertainment, indicated in a statement that Kiss is “ending its physical presence by entering the digital world.”
The company confirmed that “transforming the group’s members into digital avatars will ensure its continuity, as it transcends boundaries in rock and roll shows, as it has done throughout its artistic career.”
The band concluded its latest tour, “End of the Road,” on Saturday at Madison Square Garden in New York.
At the end of the concert, avatars of the band members performed one of the songs, and then images of the four avatars appeared on the screen with the “KISS” logo and the phrase “The beginning of a new era.”
One of the most famous songs by the American band is “I Was Made for Loving You,” and it was also known for its atmosphere on stage and the use of elegant makeup by its members. During its 50-year career, the band has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide, according to Pop House Entertainment.
Of its founding members, only singer Paul Stanley (71 years old) and guitarist Gene Simmons (74 years old) are still alive.
Through the avatars that were displayed, the band members appear as if they were superheroes, in “one of the many and varied visions through which the band members will appear as digital artists through their avatars,” according to the Swedish company.
ILM, founded by George Lucas, created these digital images.
“We will be forever young and creative, and we will reach places we never dreamed of,” the statement quoted Simons as saying, adding, “This technology will allow Paul Stanley to jump higher than he normally would.”
Pop House Entertainment previously completed a show in London for the band ABBA, during which its members appeared represented by digital avatars.
Due to the great success achieved by the show, it was decided to hold other new concerts of this kind for the band, while the possibility of including them in other countries is being considered.
