The government is accelerating the completion of the New Administrative Capital Monorail project, which contributes to facilitating the movement of employees and citizens from Greater Cairo, the Administrative Capital.

10 new trains
The Ministry of Transport announced the arrival of 10 monorail trains out of a total of 40 trains that will be supplied to the East Nile monorail project.

600 thousand passengers daily
Each monorail train consists of 4 cars, and it is planned to increase the number of cars to 8 cars, with an increase in population density in the new urban areas it serves.
The capacity of each of the two monorail lines is 600,000 passengers per day. The monorail trains are characterized by the fact that they operate without a driver and have a design speed of 90 km/h, and the monorail time is 90 seconds.
Monorail trains move on a concrete beam, and for the first time, Screen Doors will be installed on the platforms in front of the train doors to maintain the safety of passengers.
Features of the monorail
The speed of the monorail train reaches 80 km per hour, and it covers the distance of the first phase of the project in 60 minutes.
The railcars include extended corridors that allow the transfer of passengers between the carriages for more comfort in normal operating conditions. It will also be equipped with television cameras in the train cabin for central monitoring of the railways.
The scheme is to provide monorails with LED screens for use in providing passengers with information about the trip, or they can be used commercially in the broadcast of paid commercials.
The top of the side doors will be provided with a screen informing passengers of the name of the final station before they board the train, and allocating places for wheelchairs for people with special needs, equipped with means of fastening. Hearing loss.
Opening dates
The first phase ended last September; to be opened this October; The implementation rate of the project exceeded 40%.
The second phase of the project is scheduled to open during February 2023 next year. It is 42 km long and reaches the 6th of October City. It includes the stations of “Gamet El Dowal, Ring Road, Mariouteya, Mansourieh, Desert Road, Hyper One, Juhayna, and Authority” Urban Communities, Hosary, Dar Al Fouad, Industrial Zone, Express Train.
