One step forward, then two steps back, that’s what the free offer of Dashlane. A year ago, the French publisher improved its free plan by allowing you to store an unlimited number of passwords, compared to 50 previously. On November 7, go all the way back: Dashlane will once more impose a limitwhich is an even stricter limit than before, since only 25 passwords can be saved.

If you are currently using Dashlane Free and have more than 25 passwords, following November 7 you will still have access to all of them, but you will not be able to save new ones. If this change was planned from the start, Dashlane’s strategy is vicious: lure new customers with the promise of unlimited storage, then tighten the screw very strongly only a year later to encourage them to subscribe to paid plans.

Grand lord, the publisher offers these customers a 55% reduction on the first year of subscription with the code “PREMIUM55” for the Premium offer (€52.99/year without the reduction) or the code “FRIENDS55” for the Friends & Family offer (€79.99/year).

To top it off, Dashlane Free customers will be without email or chat support starting December 7. They will have to make do with online help In case of problem. The service actually seems to want to follow the path of 1Password and completely get rid of its free plan, which no longer even appears on its page dedicated to offers.
