After heroics – Mark Coleman gets a major role at UFC 300!

UFC legend Mark Coleman is in Las Vegas ahead of UFC 300. Now president Dana White reveals that he will be given an important task.

Mark Coleman saved his parents’ lives

In early March, an incident occurred where the UFC legend Mark Coleman was hospitalized after a fire in his home. Coleman’s parents were trapped inside the house, so he rushed in to save them and managed to get them out to safety. He went back into the burning building to save the family dog, but was himself seriously injured by the smoke he inhaled. The dog took in connection with the fire. The American described himself as ‘the happiest man in the world‘ after the event.

Coleman may not be as well known among younger fans as Chuck Liddell, Randy Couture and other UFC pioneers, but he was actually the organization’s first heavyweight champion. With two placements in the UFC’s Hall of Fame, he is one of those who contributed to the growth of the sport to the status it has today. During his career he also managed to win a Pride Grand Prix tournament. During a single evening, he participated in three matches and emerged victorious in all of them.

Handing out the BMF belt

Ahead of this weekend’s gala, the organization’s BMF belt is at stake. The reigning champion Justin Gaethje will take on the former featherweight champion Max Holloway. During the build-up to UFC 300, both fighters have expressed an interest in the aforementioned Coleman handing out the belt to the winner of this weekend’s match.

In connection with the night’s press conference, White told that Coleman will step into the cage after the match between Gaethje and Holloway. The UFC veteran will strap the belt around the winner’s waist.
