Car prices and the impact of the dollar’s rise

In the past 20 days, the Egyptian car market witnessed a large wave of price increases, which were announced by a number of brand agents after the dollar’s exchange rate rose by almost 10%.
The announced increases extended to the entire list of cars, which amounted to more than 70 cars, between Chinese, French and German brands, and the models that rose varied between sedan, hatchback and SUV.
The increases coincided with the Central Bank of Egypt’s announcement of raising interest rates on lending by 1%, a decision that comes as part of a package of measures to confront inflation in the markets.
The following report monitors the prices and specifications of 8 sedan models of 2022, at a price starting from 167,000 pounds. Their prices did not rise after the increase in the dollar.
