The Ministry of Health and Population has identified 9 main symptoms of influenza infection, which are similar to the symptoms experienced by people with the emerging coronavirus.
The ministry said in an awareness leaflet, on Wednesday, that influenza usually comes on suddenly and often those infected with it feel some or all of these symptoms, which include:
Fever (high temperature)
* goosebumps
* Cough
* Sore throat
* Runny or stuffy nose
* Body or muscle pain
* headache
* Tired and feeling exhausted
* Some people may experience vomiting and diarrhea although this is more common in children than in adults
The ministry pointed out that receiving the influenza vaccine provides protection from 4 types of influenza viruses expected to spread this season, and the seasonal influenza vaccine is also available in the serum and vaccine branches nationwide and in many pharmacies.
