The frustration of the YB fans runs deep on Saturday evening. The Bernese lose away in Lugano with 1: 3, it is a bitter defeat in the battle for European places.
On the way back from Ticino, the supporters of the Bernese let their anger run wild. When the SBB extra train arrives in Bern, the wagons are badly damaged. Windows have been smashed, rubber seals torn out, the walls covered with spray paint and upholstery doused with beer.
Images from a reader reporter show the train during the SBB cleaning campaign. There is graffiti everywhere, and there are also shards of glass from smashed windows lying around inside the train.
Amount of damage still unknown
When asked by Blick, the SBB cannot yet quantify the extent of the damage to property. The investigations in the case have now been handed over to the cantonal police in Bern. The corresponding investigations are now underway there, as the cantonal police say to Blick.
The first reports of damage to property had already been received when the train was still on the move. That is why the police were present at Bern train station upon arrival. However, the fans left the train calmly, and according to the current state of knowledge, there was no damage in the station either.
Appropriate clarifications on the destruction within the train are now being carried out together with the SBB. According to the police, no information can yet be given on authorship. (zis)
