After #PayeTonGyneco what is this new label that rewarded this maternity hospital in the Alpes-Maritimes?

The maternity hospital of Antibes-Juan-les-Pins is the first in the Alpes-Maritimes to obtain the “Maternys” label created by the National College of French Gynecologists and Obstetricians (CNGOF) today directed by Professor Israel Nisand.

A distinction which values the “benevolent” work of this maternity unit and which attests to its commitment to always better meet the expectations of pregnant women and to constantly improve the quality of care, safety and well-treatment of patients and their families.

To fight against obstetrical violence

This label was created in 2019 in the wake of the #MeToo and #PayeTon Gyneco movements, which then denounced the obstetrical violence suffered by women during their pregnancy and childbirth. Its main objective is to re-establish a climate of trust between expectant mothers and the medical profession.

“We realized that some patients had the impression of not having had the necessary listening and information, of not having been able to consent or give their opinion on what was happening and, sometimes even, to to have had an inappropriate remark observes Israel Nisand, the president of the CNGOF who is at the origin of the creation of this label. These criticisms, the profession wants to show that it has heard them. It is for this reason that we have launched the Maternys label to distinguish maternity units that put well-treatment at the center of their concerns.”

Twelve items to respect

In practice, the Antiboise maternity unit thus undertakes to respect 12 items, including transparency on the acts carried out (cesarean section, episiotomy, etc.), training of staff in good treatment and the systematic implementation of an early prenatal interview. , which is currently not mandatory. “However, it is essential to worry when she begins her pregnancy about the weaknesses and vulnerabilities of a woman, which could lead to a bad feeling of this period or complications”explains Israel Nisand.
