In Salzburg, everything currently points in the direction of a two-party coalition. According to a statement by ÖVP General Secretary Wolfgang Mayer on Thursday evening, a coalition envisaged by Governor Wilfried Haslauer (ÖVP) made up of the three parties with the most votes, ÖVP, FPÖ and SPÖ, failed. Accordingly, the exploratory talks were largely agreed upon, but the SPÖ rejected a coalition. A final decision should be made on Friday when Haslauer submits a proposal to the state presidency with whom coalition negotiations should now officially begin.
