The double earthquake of February 6, 2023 caused the death of more than 41,000 people in Syria and Turkey, according to the latest report.
On the Turkish side, the whole country lives in fear, starting with Istanbul where, according to the opposition mayor, some 90,000 buildings could collapse in the event of a major earthquake, an estimate almost twice as high as that established by the previous administration.
Istanbul is Turkey’s largest city. Sixteen million people live there. Men, women, to whom the double earthquake of February 6 reminded that their own buildings may not be safe, and who are preparing. Report from our correspondents.
