After ten months of economic war between Europe and Russia – in retaliation for the invasion of Ukraine – the industry is far from adapting to the new energy situation. In Lucens, the Isover Saint-Gobain factory acknowledges that it is still “highly exposed” to the “huge and rapid increase in prices” of electricity, gas and raw materials.

After making headlines in the spring, the energy threat hanging over all of European industry was driven away by everyday problems – generalized inflation, electricity bills… And then the wholesale price of natural gas, the sector’s main fuel , has it not stalled from the panic level of 340 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) hit at the end of the summer, for return around 140 euros?
