After the holidays in July, back to routine and work: here are some “well-being” tips to face the recovery

We are already halfway through summer vacation. Many Belgians have returned to work after a few weeks off in July. If this is your case, you are – normally – relaxed, rested. You are probably wondering how to prolong this rather pleasant state. Here are a few tips.

The alarm clock that rings early tells you the color: the holidays are over. We have to go back to work. We suddenly go from the sound of the waves to that of the coffee machine, from letting go to the return of responsibilities… The transition is sometimes a bit complicated: “We were from an environment where we were much cooler, with more freedom, more flexible hours, where we did a little what we wanted… And there, we will have to get back into a routine again, in a structure”notes Laure Bouquery, life coach.

Many of you responded to our call for witnesses. Barely returned from your vacation, and already, weariness is watching you. “Keep fishing? No, we’re going after peaches when we return from vacation. Between bills and professional imperatives”, “We don’t have the fishing, especially when we come back from a country with magnificent landscapes and the sun. But to be able to return there, you have to work well all year round”could we read under our publication.

The return to the daily routine is indeed inevitable. But adopting new habits can make a difference. “Being able to focus on the things that are fun at work: the pleasure of spending time with certain colleagues, taking a little break from time to time, also being able to reward yourself for a more difficult day, knowing how to set up a little ritual…”continues the life coach.

Also remember to give yourself time after work. The holidays may be over, but the sun is also shining at home. An aperitif, a moment of swimming, a restaurant with friends… All the means are good to take to relax.

Also take the time to get some fresh air and exercise. Physical activity is an excellent way to evacuate daily stress.
