After the marches, the Chief of Security of the Córdoba Capital Police was removed

The protests in seven neighborhoods in the southeast area of the city of Córdoba had an almost immediate impact on the upper echelons of the Province Police. Yesterday the decision to retire the head of Capital Security, Chief Commissioner Cristian Raúl Moreno, was announced.

The measure was applied in a position of great importance. The commissioner who replaces him will be in charge of designing policies to improve the fight against crime in the capital city.

Despite the importance of the position, as of the closing of this edition, his replacement had not been announced.

La Voz reflected in its edition last Wednesday the scope of a mobilization in two points in the southeast quadrant of the city. In the San Vicente and Empalme neighborhoods, at the same time, a hundred residents protested against insecurity.

Among the accounts, the interviewees assured that “the Police said in neighborhood meetings that their hands were tied” due to the multiplication of criminal acts.

In San Vicente, they assured, there were two neighbors who miraculously saved their lives. One of her was shot in the head, while another neighbor was pointed at her body. In both cases, the bullets did not exit.

In the Empalme neighborhood, the merchants indicated that they are subject to repeated raids. In one case, a furniture store had to house a security guard. Man spends his days and nights repelling eventual intruders. “They robbed us four times in a row and nobody did anything,” they had pointed out during the protest.

Yesterday, at 8:00 p.m., another neighborhood group came out to demand a greater police presence. “We are tired of insecurity and of the fact that there are neighbors murdered in cold blood,” they sentenced in the Matienzo neighborhood, in the southwest of the city. Today, also in the afternoon, a rally will take place in the north of the city. Neighbors of the Martinolli Straight will demand answers.

Neighbors of the former sectional fifth (San Vicente and surroundings), said they will march every Wednesday until “the answers arrive.”

no substitute

Meanwhile, from the security forces, senior police sources tried to tone down the definition taken yesterday. “The reasons for the withdrawal have to do with what is happening with security and it is also for personal reasons. There is already a replacement, but the idea needs to be approved ”, they assured in strict reserve.

This medium was able to learn that concern reigns among the uniformed. And the worst thing is that there is no visible solution on the horizon.
