Aggregator OpenCritic wanted to ban Russian publications, but changed his mind

Aggregator OpenCritic tried to join the general “cancellation” of Russia and announced that he would no longer take into account the average score of the assessment of Russian-language publications. At the same time, the site previously took into account reviews of only two publications: 3DNews And GameMAG.

The aggregator explained its decision by the fact that it cannot ignore the events in Ukraine, although it is aware that game critics are “not to blame for the crisis.” However, the OpenCritic manifesto did not find support among the majority of users.

In the wake of bewilderment, the aggregator abruptly changed its policy. The old tweet has been deleted, but in the new one reportedthat the voices of critics will continue to be taken into account, but they will be deprived of traffic. Instead of links to websites, links to a charitable foundation will be placed Save the Children.

OpenCritic’s announcement is far from the first example of hasty cancellation policy. Let us recall at least the ban on Russian cats to participate in international exhibitions.
