ACTRESS Aghniny Haque admitted that she had a new challenge in the world of acting because she had to play two different characters in the film God, Allow Me to Sin

In her new film, Aghniny plays the character of Kiran, who was originally a religious woman but entered the world of night and faced inner turmoil in searching for her identity.

“Kiran’s role is truly extraordinary, in my opinion, in terms of his emotional range it is really wide and I also play two roles, one is Kiran who is still pious and the other is Kiran who is looking for his identity,” said Aghniny at a press conference for the launch of the official trailer and poster for God. , Allow Me to Sin, Tuesday (30/4).

He said playing the character Kiran was an achievement he achieved during his acting career. He is also grateful to be able to work with director Hanung Bramantyo, who, according to him, really supports his acting so he can play this character well.

During the process of exploring Kiran’s character, Aghniny was asked by Hanung to study the Koran again and deepen his prayers so that the role he played could be conveyed well.

“I can’t refuse if I have to go to a recital because in order to understand what we want to say, we understand the role of what we want to say and what we want to show,” he said.

Aghniny also studied with his grandfather, who was a kiai, attending regular recitations for almost 3 months, and repeating the shahada so he could get into the character he was playing.

Playing two opposite characters, according to Aghniny, is very difficult because you have to convey Kiran’s sadness honestly.

“I had to strip away my wall of a very big ego and getting into a sad character was not easy and required honesty and it was really difficult, I was told to pray, surrender again, recite the shahada again, study all over again,” he said.

The religious drama genre film, God, Allow Me to Sin, has premiered exclusively at the Jogja Netpac Asia Film Festival in 2023 and will be screened in cinemas throughout Indonesia starting May 22 2024. (Ant/Z-1)
