Agreement in principle: the strike at Loto-Québec is suspended

Loto-Québec professionals announced on Tuesday that they will return to work on Wednesday after reaching an agreement in principle with the Crown corporation.

While waiting for the agreement in principle to be presented to the workers, they have suspended their indefinite general strike which had been called on September 10, 2022.

“The details of the tentative agreement will be presented to members at a general meeting in the coming days. The members will then be able to decide on it, ”said the Union of Professionals and Professionals of the Government of Quebec (SPGQ).

Details surrounding the tentative agreement were not immediately disclosed.

The 455 workers on strike had already rejected, in a proportion of 72%, an agreement in principle on September 10.

The employees were demanding a higher salary increase than that granted by Loto-Québec, particularly because of the inflationary pressures of recent months.

The strike had an impact on the population, in particular due to the suspension of Lotto 6/49 draws, a decision that had been misunderstood by the union, which had accused Loto-Québec of preferring to lose money than to negotiate increases. wages.

Loto-Québec also experienced “technical problems” on Sunday which prevented it from selling and validating certain lottery tickets, excluding scratch cards and bets made with Mise-O-Jeu.

More details to come…
