Sergio de Andrés Osorio has been appointed the novel Director General of Agroseguro, the Spanish agricultural insurance system, effective April 1st, following the retirement of Inmaculada Poveda Mínguez. The appointment was approved by Agroseguro’s Board of Directors, at the proposal of its president, Ignacio Machetti Bermejo.
De Andrés, who currently serves as Agroseguro’s Director of Production and Communication, has been with the company since 2016. His career in the insurance sector spans more than 18 years, including previous roles at Repsol YPF, Banco Sabadell, Ernst & Young, and Sanitas. He holds a degree in Business Administration and Management, as well as a degree in Market Research and Techniques from the Universidad San Pablo – CEU, and an Executive MBA from IE Business School.
Upon his appointment, De Andrés expressed his gratitude to the Board of Directors and President Machetti for their confidence, and reaffirmed his commitment to Agroseguro and the sustainable development of agricultural insurance. “al Consejo de Administración y a su presidente, Ignacio Machetti, la confianza otorgada” he stated.
Ignacio Machetti highlighted De Andrés’s deep understanding of the business, acquired during his time as a member of the Management Committee, and his constructive approach, characterizing it as a “guarantee of success” in his new responsibilities. Machetti also acknowledged the contributions of Poveda, praising her “intense dedication to the company throughout her professional life” and her significant impact on the development of both Agroseguro and the Spanish Combined Agricultural Insurance system.
The change in leadership comes as Agroseguro continues to navigate a complex landscape for the agricultural sector. De Andrés’s experience in production and communication will likely be central to the company’s strategy moving forward.
