Águilas del Zulia won 2-1 this Wednesday over Bravos de Margarita, a team that they left on the field in a close pitching duel played at the Luis Aparicio stadium in Maracaibo.

Although it was a match where the pitchers stood out, the lack of control of one of them (Jesús Lage for the islanders) paved the way for the lauro harrier.

Eduardo Torrealba scored the winning run after hitting a single in the ninth inning and reaching third base due to a wild pitch and defensive carelessness by the visitor. He finally reached the plate to the joy of the raptors after another missed pitch by Lage, who took the loss.

Dominion from the nose

The pitchers of both teams looked solid, although those led by José Moreno received up to nine hits, while Lipso Nava’s team only had one hit.

The Western team took the lead in the third inning, after Luis Castro singled from third base to Miguel Villarroel. The Margariteños responded in the fifth inning, with a triple by Pedro Martínez and a sacrifice fly by Carlos Arroyo to restore equality.

From there the serpentineros’ dominance was maintained, until the ninth section in which Lage got out of control and ended up favoring the locals. Águilas achieved their third conquest in four games to remain at the top of the table, tied with Cardenales de Lara.

For its part, Bravos is now sixth with two wins and three losses.

Lage inaugurated his loss record on a personal level, while Silvino Bracho claimed the award, also the first of the harvest.
