The Allsvenskan transfer window closes on March 27 and the last few weeks have basically been all about AIK’s centre-back hunt. Several names have been on the table for “Gnaget”.

Among others, Adam Andersson from Rosenborg, who is no longer current, but also players such as Mohanad Jeahze from DC United and Joao Mendes from Porto B.

On Wednesday morning, Norwegian media, including Nettavisen and Romerikes Blad, reported that Lilleström’s Eskil Edh could leave the club and that AIK had registered an interest.

Can connect this weekend

According to Expressen’s sources, the dialogue between the parties has been positive during Wednesday and AIK and Lilleström have agreed in principle on a deal that will take Eskil Edh to the Stockholm club.

A few details still remain, among other things, Lilleström would like to have a replacement in place, before releasing Edh to AIK, but it is something that the parties believe will be resolved.

Sources state that if nothing unforeseen happens, Edh can connect to Stockholm this weekend to carry out the mandatory medical examinations before he is presented by AIK.

AIK believes that Eskil Edh fits well into the squad structure and coach Henning Berg also wanted to have the player who can cover both sides in the back line.

Berntsen: “A profile for AIK”

AIK’s sporting director Thomas Berntsen:

– We hope to land a back who can play on both sides. It looks positive, says the sports manager to Expressen.

We have information that you agree with Eskil Edh. What can you say?

– It is natural that we connect with him. We are looking for a back who can play on both sides, Eskil can do that. I know Lilleström and their coach.

– We have a good relationship. But it’s not the only hill we’ve talked to, on the other hand, Eskil is one of the names we’ve discussed and which is current. He is a profile for AIK, I can say that.

What are his strengths?

– Without talking too much about other clubs’ players, he is a useful player. He is a young guy with a lot of experience. Can play on both ends. Strong one on one. Good speed.
