AIK defeated Värnamo 2–0.

Thanks to two unaccustomed goalscorers where one of them, newly acquired Eskil Edh, got to go and familiarize himself with the home supporters afterwards.

– It wasn’t entirely my choice, but you have to offer it when you score a goal, he says.

Things are rolling along for AIK at the start of this year’s Allsvenskan.

Strengthened by Sunday’s derby victory against Djurgården, the team went out to Friends’ arena and secured three points and remains unbeaten.

– We show how strong we are again. We said that we must not take it too easy in this match and we are still undefeated, that was the goal, says Bersant Celina.

But there were no experienced goal scorers who stayed ahead.

Eskil Edh, making his first start since injury, kept himself in front in the 19th minute and sent in a rebound for his first goal in an AIK shirt.

– Very, very special and fun to score. I am very happy, he says.

“They wanted me out”

The Norwegian had to start a chant with his new home crowd after the match.

– It was very funny. It wasn’t entirely my choice, but you have to offer it when you score a goal. It was Anton and Faqa who wanted me to come.

What rhyme was it?

– I’m a little unsure, to be completely honest. I haven’t been here long and don’t know everyone’s names yet.

At the end of the first half, it was time for the next player to score his first AIK goal. The home team took a short corner and Bersant Celina pecked the forehead of Benjamin Tiedemann Hansen who headed in 2-0 into the far corner.

The second half was a long journey without a goal, AIK won 2–0 and now has eleven points in five games.

“Get over you, Abdi”

After the match, the AIK players stood in front of the team’s heel and unfurled a banner in support of the long-term injured Abdihakim Ali, who was injured in the derby.

“Hurry up Abdi, we’re with you.”

– It is always tough for a young player to get such an injury to the heel. He gets all the support of the club and the players and all the managers. We hope he will come back even stronger and even better after this, says AIK coach Henning Berg.

Celina:

– It was very nice. We support him very much and hope he comes back stronger than ever.

Another player who did not make it was Omar Faraj who left Friends limping.

– The plan was for him to come in, but he felt a little in the groin when he was going to jump in, and we don’t want to take any chances. But we expect him to be there again on Sunday, says Henning Berg.

In place were supporters from the royal house in the form of Prince Daniel and Princess Estelle who were seen cheering in the stands.
