Air fountains replace air conditioners: How Loop buildings stay naturally cool

When looking for a place to escape the heat, the colonnaded hall of the World Museum in Newcastle’s south-west wing was considered an insider’s idea just a month ago. As part of the redesign, the historic air fountain was relaunched here in 2017: a system of brick corridors on the second underground floor and shafts distributed throughout the building, through which fresh air is drawn in from the castle gardens and distributed in the various rooms. Air-exhaust air is exhausted through the roof.
