O PicPay announced this Wednesday (29) the performance of its in-app marketplace during Black Friday 2023, the date on which the company’s sales platform recorded a new record for purchases on partner websites. This year, the volume of orders grew 28% compared to the same period last year.
According to information, the “Pharmacy” category grew the most in this year’s discount edition, with an increase of 211% in TPV and 175% in transactions. In addition, the demand for summer-related products and the strong heat wave that affected Brazil also stood out, including fans and air conditioners of different powers.
The gaming and travel segments were also important in driving the increase, with emphasis on Airbnb, which recorded a 94% increase in TPV compared to 2022. In terms of most searched for items, the Air Fryer oil-free fryer leads as consumers’ favorite in the PicPay Store (1st), followed by iPhones (2nd) and Smart TVs (3rd).
Galaxy devices and washing machines appear in fourth and fifth position, respectively. These numbers show that Brazilians are adapting their shopping preferences according to the current scenario, a characteristic seen with the high demand for devices to cool off in the intense heat; household appliances and electronics remain favorites.
“Black Friday is a time where a lot of opportunity purchasing occurs, especially at lower tickets. In other words, it is the moment when consumers take the opportunity to save on a product that they already want or use on a daily basis”, points out Rita Lemos, executive at PicPay Shop.
“We associate our strategy with strengthening the engagement of our users. To do this, we segment the offer by type of customer and by sectors they consume most. We also encourage the use of our own products, such as PicPay Card or Pix made through PicPay. In other words, we gave more incentives to those who were more likely to consume products from our ecosystem and, therefore, also give us more returns”, he concludes.
