Filderstadt (ots) – DRF Luftrettung has once again won the tendering process for air rescue in Saxony-Anhalt. The non-profit organization will ensure rapid emergency medical care for the population in the country from the air for another three years. The assignment can then be extended for another year. It includes three helicopters that are stationed at two locations in the country: Christoph 36 in Magdeburg and Christoph Halle and Christoph Sachsen-Anhalt in Halle. Christoph Saxony-Anhalt is the country’s intensive care transport helicopter, which is operational around the clock.

“We are very pleased about the award of the contract and the trust expressed by the state of Saxony-Anhalt,” emphasizes Dr. Krystian Pracz, CEO of DRF Luftrettung. “We have impressed with the quality of our work and the expertise we have built up over many decades and we look forward to continuing to contribute hand in hand with our partners to comprehensive emergency medical care for people here in the country.” Right at the start of the new contract period at the beginning of 2024, a state-of-the-art H145 machine with a five-blade rotor went into service in Halle yesterday. It replaced the H135, which had previously been used as Christoph Halle. As Christoph Saxony-Anhalt, an H145 with a five-blade rotor has been in use since 2021.

Via the stations Halle and Magdeburg

The two helicopters Christoph Sachsen-Anhalt and Christoph Halle are stationed at the Halle station. Christoph Saxony-Anhalt is available around the clock and Christoph Halle is available every day from 7 a.m. to sunset. The Halle helicopters carry out vital intensive care transports of patients between hospitals as well as emergency operations to get an emergency doctor to the patient as quickly as possible.

The Magdeburg station is located at the Magdeburg Clinic. From here, the crew of the rescue helicopter Christoph 36 takes off for emergency rescue missions as a quick emergency doctor shuttle and for the quick and gentle transport of patients. The Magdeburg air rescuers are ready for action from sunrise (7 a.m. at the earliest) to sunset. An H135 helicopter is used.

The three helicopters reach locations within a radius of 60 kilometers within a maximum of 15 minutes of flight. The crew includes a pilot (two at night), an emergency doctor and an emergency paramedic.
