Air traffic regains momentum

Traffic in the Kingdom’s airports has regained its pre-crisis momentum. Last February, the airports of the Kingdom recorded a volume of commercial traffic of 1,871,095 passengers and 14,432 airport movements, i.e. an evolution of passenger traffic of 11% and a recovery rate of aircraft movements of 98%, by compared to the same period of 2019. This is what emerges from data from the National Airports Office (ONDA) at the end of February.

During the first two months of the year, Moroccan airports recorded a total of 3,858,872 passengers against 3,553,565 in the same period of 2019, representing a recovery rate of 109%, according to ONDA. In detail, Mohammed V airport in Casablanca totaled 1,362,292 passengers, representing a recovery rate of 95% at the end of February. Marrakech-Menara, with 1,072,886 passengers, experienced a recovery rate of 114%, while Agadir-Massira airport totaled 365,247 passengers, a recovery rate of 118%.

In February, Europe represented more than 84% of international traffic, thanks to an increase of 17% compared to February 2019. Similarly, air traffic with North America experienced a growth rate of 52%. . As for the Middle and Far East and African markets, they recorded respective growth rates of 4% and 2% compared to the same month in 2019.
