Ajman: Plastic bags banned in Ajman The ban will take effect from 2023. This was announced by the Municipality and the Planning Department. The use of plastic bags in commercial establishments is banned on May 16 every year as part of the Plastic Bag Free Day program.

Khalid al-Hosani, executive director of the public health and environment sector, said the number of plastic bags had been reduced by 219,000 this year. Awareness campaign on plastic bag hazards will be conducted. He added that the community would be encouraged to use other alternatives to plastic.
