Al Khobar: Ministry of Home Affairs Reports 17,463 Foreigners Arrested for Residence, Labor, and Border Violations

Al Khobar: 17,463 foreigners who violated residence, labor laws and border security regulations were arrested in different areas of the country within a week. The Ministry of Home Affairs informed that the violators were found in joint raids conducted by various units of the security forces across the country from 16th to 22nd of this month. 10,856 residence violators, 3,934 violators of border security regulations and 2,673 labor law violators were arrested.

773 people were arrested while trying to enter the country illegally through the border. 44 percent of them are Yemenis and 45 percent are Ethiopians. 11 percent are from other countries. 54 people were caught while trying to leave the country.

11 people were also arrested for smuggling and harboring people violating residence and employment regulations. A total of 50,699 violators are currently being processed for contravening the regulations. Out of which 44,091 are male and 6,608 are female. So far, 44,651 violators have been handed over to their respective diplomatic missions to obtain travel documents. 1,617 people were advised to complete their travel reservation process. 10,197 people were deported within a week. The Ministry of Interior has warned that those who facilitate the entry of intruders into the country, provide transportation, housing facilities, or provide other assistance or services, will be punished with confiscation of their means of transportation and accommodation and up to 15 years in prison and a maximum fine of 10 million Riyals.
