Manchester City have officially announced the signing of Calvin Phillips from Leeds United for 6 seasons. The parties did not disclose the financial details of the deal, but British media reported that the 26-year-old joined for 45 million pounds ($54.53 million), including additions.

City, who will face FA Cup holders Liverpool in the Community Shield match on July 30, will start the defense campaign for the league title against West Ham United on August 7.

Phillips, 26, seeks to fill the void left by Fernandinho in Manchester City, which he left this summer after nine years with the club.

A graduate of Leeds United School, Phillips has made 214 first-team appearances since 2015.

And Manchester City was active in the transfer period this summer, as it included striker Erling Haaland, in a deal worth 51.2 million pounds, from Borussia Dortmund.
