The Iranian Football Federation denied on Tuesday reaching an agreement with Portuguese Carlos Queiroz to lead the first team.
Media reports had indicated that the Iranian Federation had reached an agreement with the Portuguese to lead the first team.
Queiroz had previously held the technical reins of the Iranian national team between 2011 and 2019.
The 69-year-old Portuguese led Iran to the 2018 World Cup finals on Russian soil.
The Iranian team, under the leadership of Queiroz, starred in the 2018 World Cup, as it defeated Morocco (1-0) and drew with Portugal (1-1), but its defeat against Spain (1-0) condemned it to leave the second group competitions in third place with 4 points.
