Alain Maneval died at the age of 69. It was the television host, Laurence Boccolini, who formalized the sad news through an archive photo published on her Instagram account.
In the caption of the photograph, which dates from “over 35”she remembers that it had been “incredible” to work alongside him when they officiated on Europe 1. “A part of my youth is leaving… with you. The music remains”she wrote on the social network.
A man of strong character
Alain Maneval was a great music lover, notably presenting in 1978 the program PO-GO devoted to punk, on Europe 1. But it was in March of that same year that he experienced a significant event, recalled Télérama in a portrait dedicated to him in 2009. While he was on the island of Bréhat, in Brittany, the amateur had seen the sinking of the Amoco Cadiz and the oil spill that it had caused. At the microphone of the radio, he had asked listeners to boycott the Shell company, which caused the incident. This company was the biggest advertiser in Europe 1, which then dismissed the host.
He also marked the world of television. Alain Maneval notably hosted the Tam-tam programs on M6 but also Megahertz on TF1. He will then pass behind the cameras by becoming program director of Arte, indicates Télérama.
The end of life of the animator was marked by health concerns. As Bretagne Actuelle points out, Alain Maneval had revealed his HIV status. In 2010, he presented a Thema “Goodbye sida” evening to raise awareness of the development of AIDS in France.
