Alain Souchon, an exceptional career

Fifty years of career, a special place in the French musical landscape. France Bleu Azur tells you regarding Alain Souchon’s journey through the Riviera. From the Golden Rose of Antibes in 1973 to the song “La Baie des Fourmis” which pays homage to a beach in Beaulieu sur Mer, written and composed with Laurent Voulzy

Did you know that the Côte d’Azur was a springboard for Alain Souchon’s career? “L’Amour 1830” is a romantic ballad that he wrote in the 1970s for Frédéric François. It was then that producer Bob Socquet, artistic director of RCA Records, intervened and fell under the spell of the song and advised Souchon to perform it himself at the Rose d’Or competition in Antibes.
