TIRANA (Archyde.com) – Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Wednesday his country had decided to cut diplomatic ties with Iran and ordered the departure of Iranian diplomats and embassy staff within 24 hours after an investigation into a cyber attack in July.
“The government has immediately decided to cut diplomatic ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Rama said in a video statement sent to the media.
He added, “This stern response … is fully proportional to the seriousness and gravity of the cyber attack, which threatened to paralyze public services, erase digital systems, penetrate state records, steal government electronic communications on the Internet, and create chaos and lawlessness in the country.”
