American Logan Sargeant will miss this weekend’s Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix because he will hand over his car to his Williams teammate Alexander Albon from Thailand, who crashed his car during Friday’s first free practice, MTI wrote.

The team his statement saidthat with the third chassis unavailable, the decision was made that Albon would drive the vehicle Sargeant used in Friday’s first and second free practice for the rest of the weekend.

In the first practice, Albon finished 12th by slamming the Williams into the wall twenty minutes before the start. The competitor was not injured, the circling was stopped while the rescue took place. The pilot thus missed the second free practice session. Sargeant was first 14th and then 13th in free practice.

“We are very disappointed to have to withdraw one of our cars from the weekend due to chassis damage” – He told Team boss James Vowles. “In today’s Formula 1, it is unacceptable not to have a spare chassis, but this clearly shows how far behind we were in the winter period. “While Logan shouldn’t suffer for a mistake he didn’t make, when the midfield is tighter than ever, every race counts and we decided based on our best points-scoring opportunities,” he added.

“It was a difficult decision for us to make and we cannot thank Logan enough for accepting it with dignity and showing his commitment to the team. He is a real team player. It will be a tough weekend for Williams,” said the Williams team boss. Albon also thanked the American pilot.

The Australian race will be held on Sunday at 6 a.m. Hungarian time.
