The federal government is warning of the rain masses from Friday to Saturday with warning level 3 (out of 5, significant danger). Possible impacts may include rising water levels of streams and normally dry ditches. There may also be restrictions on road traffic.
On Friday morning there was also a storm with hurricane-force winds raging in the eastern half of the country (Ticino, Central Switzerland, Graubünden, Glarus Alps and Alpstein). Speeds of 130 to 150 km/h are expected.
“The rain will ease off on Sunday night. By Sunday morning there will be widespread rainfall totals of 100 to 150 mm, regionally around 200 mm is also possible. The snowfall line has been high for a long time, on Friday morning it was still around 3,000 meters,” as MeteoNews adds.
