A second flood wave is possible in Altai. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, during a meeting with the Governor of the Tomsk Region, Viktor Tomenko, where the flood situation was discussed.

“We flew over some areas and got acquainted with the situation. She is stabilizing. But taking into account climatic and territorial features, there is a possibility of a second wave of flood,” Kurenkov noted before a meeting of the working group of the government commission. His words are quoted by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in its telegram channel.

Kurenkov stressed that one cannot relax. The work must be continued and the situation must be kept under special control. At the same time, you should pay attention to all seasonal risks, including fire danger.

Temporary accommodation centers for citizens affected by floods are still open in the region. Targeted work with the population continues and financial assistance is being provided, said Governor Viktor Tomenko. Monitoring of flood conditions is carried out on an ongoing basis, since not all rivers have yet become free of ice.

Kurenkov, in turn, called for a timely evacuation of people from flooded areas and to provide them with all the necessary assistance. “Inform the population about the current situation and forecasts for its development. People should know that they will be taken care of,” said the head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Currently, the snow has almost disappeared in the Altai Territory, and ice continues to melt on the rivers. The authorities keep this process under special control, since the water level may rise due to ice jams. 1,972 household plots, 735 residential buildings and 86 settlements have already emerged from the flood zone.
