Former Montreal Canadiens color holder Alex Galchenyuk put his name on the scoresheet in his first KHL game with SKA St. Petersburg on Saturday against Dynamo Moscow.

Galchenyuk assisted on his team’s first goal early in the second period.

The center player made a very nice forecheck in the offensive zone before stealing the puck from his opponent. He then made a nice pass to his teammate Sergei Tolchinsky who completed the maneuver with a powerful one-timer shot.

His team also signed a 2-1 victory in the curtain raiser of this regular season in the KHL.

The 29-year-old was released by the Arizona Coyotes after being arrested in Scottsdale in early July. The third player selected in the 2012 draft issued death threats against a police officer and his family. He had just signed a new contract with the “Yotes”.
