Alex Turcotte scored his first career NHL goal and the Los Angeles Kings won 4-2 against the Nashville Predators on Wednesday.

Turcotte, whose father Réal (known as Alfie) was the first choice of the Montreal Canadiens in 1983, waited almost four years to experience this great moment after being drafted fifth overall in 2019. The 22-year-old American center years old whose grandfather is a Quebecer played only his 14th game in the league. He also had an assist on Trevor Lewis’ goal in the third period.

David Rittich, for his part, was solid in front of the cage, making a season-high 39 saves in the victory.

The Preds currently find themselves out of the playoffs for the first time since December 9 after losing their last three games.

Midway through the first period, Carl Grundstrom recovered the puck in the neutral zone before going on attack with Turcotte. He fired a sharp shot to beat Juuse Saros and open the scoring.

In the second, Trevor Moore crossed the ice at high speed and this time gave Turcotte the chance to score the long-awaited goal which made the score 2-0.

Taking advantage of a lucky bounce, Filip Forsberg scored his 24th goal of the season in the third and Philip Tomasino also scored with 3:25 left to keep the Preds in the game.

Kevin Fiala, however, sealed the outcome in an empty net.

Quinton Byfield returned to action for the Kings after missing the last two games because he was ill. He collected an assist.

For Nashville, Alexandre Carrier was not at his post after leaving Monday’s game in the first period in an overtime loss to the Ottawa Senators. The Quebec defender, who took part in morning training today, has 4 goals and 10 assists in 46 games.

The Anaheim Ducks beat the San Jose Sharks 3-2 in overtime to secure their second victory.

They came back from a deficit in the third period to win for the ninth time this season, an NHL record.

Troy Terry brought both teams back to square one by scoring with 1:01 left in regulation. Frank Vatrano then put the finishing touch in overtime with his 22nd goal of the campaign. John Gibson made 26 saves.

In the defeat, Quebecer Marc-Édouard Vlasic scored in a third game in a row and for the fifth time in his last nine games.

Anaheim struck early, 2:12 into the game. Jakob Silfverberg sent the puck in front of the net and Isac Lundestrom scored from the slot.

Anthony Duclair tied the game with his ninth goal of the season shortly after, on the five-man attack, while he was well positioned at the mouth of the net.

John Gibson held the fort during some important sequences, notably frustrating Calen Addison on two occasions, by pulling out the right pad. However, he ended up giving in to Vlasic at the end of the second period on a shot from the blue line, before the Ducks turned things around.
