Alex Vizorek: Embracing His Polish Roots and Borain Connections – A Cultural Revelation

“I promised you a little surprise Mons,” Alex Vizorek begins, not without emotion, in the video visible below. Why is this city important to me? Because Vizorek is of Polish origin. Alexandre Wieczoreck is my real name. My great-grandfather came here from Poland over 70 years ago. He worked in the mines of Borinage and so it’s always a source of immense pride to come and play here.” And added: “My great-grandparents spoke Borain… with the certainty of speaking French!”

Considering himself “fairly good at passive Borain” and having never used this linguistic talent before, the Belgian comedian from The Organized Band did his research. Result ? Some great songs of French song have been translated into Borain. “And it immediately gives another color. But if I tried that in Bordeaux, there would have been disappointment!” Laughter in the assembly. “I’m not a singer so I called a guest, she’s from Saint-Ghislain: Alice on the roof!”

What follows is a duet that is as funny as it is already cult on “The telephone a l’brayou” (The telephone cries by Claude François): between the singer from Mons and the comedian. “It looks like a bit of a Quebecois,” says the smiling Alice on the roof. “I hope we have the right accent, that of Boussu,” adds Alex Vizorek who does not intend to make it a single however. “Well, who knows! but it’s not planned,” declares the man whose tour of his new show continues (https://www.alexvizorek.com/). After his talents as a comic writer with his stories of the suppository, his few roles in the cinema (The Last Temptation of the Belgians, already with Alice on the roof) or his tales for children like Peter and the Wolf or The Carnival of the Animals (which (he will notably take over at La Ferme du Biereau in Louvain-la-Neuve), will Alex Vizorek also soon become a singer? To be continued.
