It was tantamount to humiliating Russian President Vladimir Putin when the Belarusian news agency Belta was the first to report on Saturday evening that head of state Alexander Lukashenko had negotiated a deal with Yevgeny Prigozhin: “The President of Belarus informed the President of Russia regarding the results of the Negotiations with the head of the Wagner group. (…) The President of Russia thanked his Belarusian colleague for the work done.”
