“Alexis Sorbas” star Irene Papas died – film

The Greek actress and singer Irene Papas, who became known in the 1960s for films such as “Alexis Sorbas” and “The Guns of Navarone”, has died at the age of 96. This was announced by the Greek Ministry of Culture on Wednesday. Papas acted in around 80 films in her career and was awarded the Golden Lion of Venice for her life’s work in 2009, among others.
