A few hours before, he delivered an unequivocal statement on Polisario terrorism: “The Polisario Front attacked the town of Smara, in the Sahara region, subsequently claiming responsibility for these barbaric acts. The attacks targeted only the civilian population and caused several deaths and injuries. This situation represents a risk for the stability of the region which could have harmful collateral consequences for EU Member States [..] (because of) possible links between the Polisario Front and Islamist terrorist groups”. He adds that in fact, «the founder of the Islamic State in the Great Sahara (EIGS), Adnane Abou Walid al-Sahraoui, fought for the Polisario Front [..] Is the Commission considering suspending funding for refugee camps in south-west Algeria, which are controlled and managed solely by the Polisario Front?
