All Apple iPhone 14 models will have autofocus selfie cameras

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is out with another iPhone 14 prediction and this time it’s all regarding the selfie cameras. All four new iPhones launching later this year will feature autofocus front cameras with an f/1.9 aperture. This would be a major upgrade over previous iPhones, which have stubbornly stuck to fixed-focus front cameras and f/2.2 apertures for some time.

Photos, video calls, and live streaming apps will all benefit. And the larger aperture allows the sensors to capture more light, which should result in better shots both during the day and in low light. The additional autofocus allows for better subject tracking and improved depth of field in stills and videos, especially in portrait mode. There’s no indication of the image sensor’s size and resolution, but the addition of autofocus will certainly result in better selfies.
