The affair caused a lot of noise in Mons. A city alderman is the target of 2 complaints, including one for rape. An investigation has been opened. The elected official in question denies the facts and evokes a “political game” as the elections approach.
The first complaint was filed at the end of November by Sacha. The young man claims to have been the victim of rape while he was on vacation with alderman Stéphane Bernard and Nicolas Martin, the mayor of Mons, in Mykonos last September.
“We had a very, very drunken evening. We came home, I was sleeping and I realized that Stéphane was giving me oral sex”assures Sacha.
An accusation that the socialist side firmly contests. He filed a complaint for slanderous denunciation to authority, defamation and slander.
“It is clear that we manage to prove that this complaint is absolutely unfounded. We have written evidence, photographs, we have a whole series of elements which make it possible to demonstrate that this person allegedly victim lied”said Frank Discepoli, Stéphane Bernard’s lawyer.
According to our information, these include photos of Stéphane Bernard and Sacha together, and written exchanges between them after the alleged rape.
The 22-year-old young man explains that he was not immediately aware of the seriousness of the facts he is denouncing. “My brain completely blocked and I had a feeling of insecurity. On a psychological level, it was blocked. When I came home and saw my loved ones, I felt safe , and it just clicked in my head.”confides Sacha.
This week, a second complaint was filed against the alderman. The prosecution confirms but does not specify the nature of this complaint. For Stéphane Bernard and his lawyer, these are political maneuvers. “It’s still quite surprising that this is happening as the elections approach. It seems to us to be a piece of cake and complaints launched to do political harm”said Frank Discepoli.
Stéphane Bernard has not yet been heard by the judicial authorities. Investigation duties are still underway. Until the investigations are completed, the city will not take action against the alderman.
