Joao Almeida Captures Tour De Suisse Victory after Thrilling Final Stage

Beckenried, Switzerland – Joao Almeida of UAE – Emirates – XRG, seized victory at the Tour De suisse on June 22, 2025, with a stunning performance in the final stage time trial. Almeida’s notable showing cemented his place at the top, while Lennard Kämna finished sixth overall in the prestigious race.

Almeida’s Decisive Time Trial Performance

The Portuguese cyclist completed the mountain time trial from Beckenried too Stockhütte, covering 10.1 kilometers, in a blistering time that was 25 seconds faster than Austrian cyclist Felix Gall from Decathlon – AG2R, who was also a strong contender. oscar Onley from Picnic- Postnl,claimed third,further intensifying the competition.

Kevin Vauquelin of Arkea-B&B Hotels, who started the day in the yellow jersey, finished fourth and ultimately secured second place overall.The challenging course and Almeida’s exceptional form proved too much to overcome.

Overcoming Early Setbacks

Almeida faced early challenges in the Tour De Suisse, trailing Romain Grégoire of Groupama – FDJ, by 3 minutes and 22 seconds at one point. “It was a lot back to you. A mistake can cost a lot. Fortunately,I was able to correct it. I am super satisfied. I felt good and went on a good climb,” Almeida said in a post-race interview, highlighting his resilience and determination.

This victory marks Almeida’s third World douring success this season, following stage wins in Basque Country and Romandie. “As a team, we never give up. We always believe in ourselves – and in the end we did it,” Almeida stated, celebrating his ninth win.
