Alpine skiing: Marco Odermatt is ahead of Henrik Kristoffersen and Loïc Meillard – rts.ch

Wonderful Marco Odermatt! The Nidwalden triumphed for the 2nd year in a row in the giant Adelboden. On the snow of the Bernese Oberland, the Olympic champion in the discipline beat the Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen and the Valaisan Loïc Meillard.

Marco Odermatt is thus on 14 consecutive podiums in the discipline: 13 in the World Cup – with 9 successes in passing! – as well as Olympic gold in Beijing in February 2022.

It’s just amazing. I was able to savor this race this year, because I had already won here“, and Marco Odermatt laughed.”I knew I had to attack from the top. I was at the limit two, three or four times on the indoor ski“, he pointed out.

A first for Meillard

In the lead with a 0”32 lead over Henrik Kristoffersen after the first round, Odermatt widened the gap on the final round. His margin over the Norwegian was even 1”20 at the last intermediate score. He then handled the final wall perfectly.

Third at the end of the 1st round, Loïc Meillard for his part kept this place to offer himself his 1st podium of the winter in giant, the 3rd of the season in total in a 3rd different discipline. Sixth in the morning, Grison Gino Caviezel was ranked 8th, at 2”77.

Murisier eliminated in the final wall

The three other Swiss qualified for this final round ranked beyond 15th place. Thomas Tumler, 17th on the 1st track, with bib number 45, fell to 19th place. Daniele Sette finished 23rd, Fadri Janutin 26th.

Brilliant 7th in the downhill at Bormio just after Christmas, Justin Murisier was eliminated in the 1st run, making a mistake in the final wall. Le Bagnard has finished only one giant this winter, the 1st disputed in Alta Badia (9th).
