Alsace: A policewoman dies during a parachute jump

A 24-year-old policewoman died this Friday evening, May 6, 2022, after falling 1,000 meters during a parachute jump in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin).

A terrible tragedy which occurred around 8:40 p.m., according to the press release from the departmental fire and rescue service (SDIS) of Bas-Rhin. The young woman, who practiced skydiving for a year and which had totaled more than a hundred jumps, was performing this parachute drop from an aerodrome located very close to the site of the accident.

“The firefighters intervened for a woman practicing parachuting” and who “fell from a height of about 1,000 meters” explained the SDIS in its press release.

A judicial source indicates that an investigation has been opened, even if the accidental track is for the moment privileged. In order to determine the causes of this tragedy, the go pro cameras of the other parachutists who jumped at the same time as the victim will be exploited.
